Lazyeyes @ Le Poisson Rouge

January 25, 2016

Lazyeyes is a rock band from Brooklyn. I first saw them at Mercury Lounge in the spring of 2014 when Jason Abrishami, the band's founder and lead singer, invited me to come check them out. Wave after wave of anthemic shoegaze infused dreampop poured out of the speakers that night. To my seasoned ears, they came off as a band with a bright future. After seeing them a couple weeks ago at Le Poisson Rouge, it's clear they've fulfilled their potential & are officially ready for the big leagues.

Their set at LPR was raw, kinetic, and flat out exciting. They're one of the best bands you've never heard of. Next month they'll be in Austin as an Official Showcasing Artist at South By Southwest. Later in the year they'll be releasing their debut album. If the two EPs they've released since they formed in 2012 are any indication, we're in for a treat. Scroll down to check out the pics I got of them at LPR, as well as photos of psychpop wunderkind Zuli whose band preceded Lazyeyes that night with a strong set of their own.
