Pizza Underground @ Baby's All Right

December 13th, 2013

Baby's All Right is a shiny new restaurant/bar/music venue on Broadway just a tenderloin toss away from Peter Luger.  What's one way to get people through the door?  Have Macaulay Culkin (yes, the one from Home Alone who you last saw in the tabloids looking scraggly and possibly knocking on death's door) perform a free show with his friends as "Pizza Underground" and give everyone who gets in free pizza.
The plan worked.  When I arrived, the line was down the street and around the corner.  I managed to get in, but can't say the same for many who arrived after 7.  As they said on their website, "The early bird gets the slice."

Those of us inside, packed wall to wall in what felt like a sauna, were treated to a rollicking 8 minutes of laughter inducing Velvet Underground music with pizza obsessed lyrics.  I'm happy to report Macaulay looked to be in great shape.  With Home Alone a certified holiday classic, no one wants to think of Kevin McCallister on the skids.  Seeing him healthy and sharing a laugh over pizza while celebrating the Velvet Underground was an early Christmas gift with extra cheese.  To hear the silliness for yourself, go to their Bandcamp page.
